Fire breaks out at multi-storey building in Dhanmondi, two fire service units working to douse blaze
A fire broke out at a multi-storey building in the Dhanmondi-27 area of the capital. The fire started around 5:50 pm on Wednesday, June 10, in a room on the roof of a five-storey building on Sat Masjid Road.
Two units of the Fire Service rushed to the spot upon receiving information and began efforts to control the blaze, confirmed Farida Yasmin, duty officer of the Fire Service control room.
According to Fire Service sources, the building houses electronics businesses and several travel agencies. News of the fire caused panic in the area, and people began gathering around the building.
The cause of the fire could not be known immediately. No information on casualties was immediately available.
Fire Service personnel are working to control the blaze, assess the extent of damage and investigate the source of the fire. Detailed information will be available once the fire is fully brought under control.
