A massive fire broke out at Ananta Apparels Ltd, a garment factory in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj, early Wednesday (July 15).

The fire erupted around 5:00am in the factory's fabric warehouse and quickly spread, sending thick black smoke into the sky and triggering panic among workers and nearby residents.

According to locals and factory employees, flames rapidly engulfed the warehouse within minutes. They suspect the fire spread quickly due to the presence of large quantities of fabric and other combustible materials stored inside the facility.

Nine fire service units deployed to control the blaze. However, the cause of the blaze or the extent of the damage are yet to confirm.

Adamjee Fire Service Senior Station Officer Miron Mia said nine firefighting units were working at the scene and had already brought much of the fire under control.

"We expect to fully extinguish the fire shortly," he said.

He added that investigators are examining whether any chemicals stored in the warehouse contributed to the incident. The exact cause of the fire and the total losses will be determined after a formal investigation by the Fire Service.
