Fire destroys 30 shelters at Rohingya Camp in Ukhiya
A fire broke out at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya early Tuesday (February 16), destroying at least 30 shelters.
However, no casualties were reported, officials said.
The blaze erupted at Block E-5 of Camp-5 in Ukhiya Upazila Rohingya settlement, according to Fire Service officials.
Station Officer Dollar Tripura said a firefighting unit rushed to the scene upon receiving the alert and, with assistance from camp residents, brought the fire under control after about an hour.
Approximately 30 shelters were completely gutted in the incident. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, he added.
