Fire erupts at DU’s Bijoy 71 hall shop

A fire broke out at an extension shop in the Jamuna Block of Dhaka University (DU).

The blaze started at 6:09pm at Bijoy 71 Hall in this evening (November 24), while a gas line was being replaced during cooking.

Four fire service units responded and brought the fire under control by 6:30pm.

Fire Service Sadar Zone Commander Mohammad Enamul said the blaze was caused by replacing the gas line without turning off the stove, and no cylinder explosion occurred.

Bijoy 71 Hall Provost S. M. Ali Reza added that electricity was cut in coordination with the administration, some vegetables and curry were spoiled, and staff training will be arranged to prevent future accidents.
