A newly installed tubewell in Palakhal village of Kachua upazila, Chandpur, has sparked panic among locals after water began flowing without pumping and fire erupted from its mouth.

The tubewell was installed on Sunday morning, July 12, at the house of Babu Hossain in the Miyaji Bari area. After installation, witnesses noticed water flowing automatically from the tubewell without any pumping. Within moments, bubbling sounds were heard from the tubewell's mouth.

Tubewell mechanic Mohammad Ali said the matter came to their attention after the installation was completed on Saturday afternoon. When they tested it with fire, a flame emerged from the tubewell's mouth.

The incident drew crowds from surrounding areas. Locals suspect the presence of underground gas may be the cause, but no official confirmation has been made. Residents have demanded prompt administration intervention and a scientific investigation to determine the cause of the phenomenon.
