Fire guts 2 resorts in Sajek valley

A fire has ripped through several structures in Kanglak hills of Sajek Valley in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati. Two resorts, house and a shop were completely gutted in the fire.

The fire broke out at Meghchoya Resort in Sajek at midnight on Thursday (February 1).

Eyewitnesses said that it is believed that the fire broke out when locals were burning wood for a bonfire near the Meghchoya resort of Kanglak Hills. The fire was brought under control after two hours of efforts by the law enforcement forces and locals. Tourists staying at the resort have been evacuated safely.

Sajek Cottage Owners Association Vice President Chaithuang Aung Chowdhury Joy said that the fire from Meghchoa Resort to Faringi Resort, local Vuban Tripura's house, and a shop were destroyed. However, the tourists have been evacuated safely. However, the extent of fire damage is not known yet.
