A devastating fire broke out in three buses parked at Jangalia bus stand in Cumilla city.

The blaze broke out around noon on Sunday (April 5) in three AC buses operated by Royal Coach, which had been out of service and left at the stand for an extended period.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control.

The three buses were completely burnt down, but no casualties were reported.

According to eyewitnesses, the buses were often used for illicit activities, including drug consumption, and noted that several people were present near the buses shortly before the fire started.

Authorities suspect the fire may have originated from a gas lighter or another flammable object.

Saiful Islam, in charge of the Cumilla EPZ police outpost, said police and fire service teams responded promptly.

"An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause, and the incident is being treated as a serious arson case," he added.
