Fire in 15 structures, 274 vehicles in 46 days: Fire Service
Miscreants set fire to 4 vehicles in the last 24 hours during the 11th phase of blockade called by various like-minded political parties including BNP.
2 buses, a truck and a pickup were damaged in these incidents from 6 am on December 12 to 6 am on December 13. 7 units of fire service and civil defense and 35 manpower worked to extinguish the fire.
Inspector Anwarul Islam of Fire Service and Civil Defense gave this information. He said that on December 12 at 9:58 in the morning, a bus named 'Bahan Paribahan' caught fire near Gulistan Patal Market in the capital. Then at 12:18 PM, a bus named 'Samay Paribahan' was set on fire near the police box under the Gulistan Hanif flyover.
A pickup caught fire at Kachundi in Magura Sadar on December 12 at 9:30 pm. Miscreants set fire to a truck in Monigram of Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi at 11:30 pm on December 12.
Anwarul Islam said that from October 28 to December 13 at 6 a.m., the fire service received news of a total of 278 arson (vehicles including several installations) by miscreants in 46 days. In this, 274 vehicles and 15 structures were damaged.
Among the burnt vehicles are 170 buses, 45 trucks, 23 covered vans, 8 motorcycles and 28 other vehicles, said the fire service official.
Since October 31, 10-point blockade and three-point strike programs have been held by various like-minded parties including BNP. The party announced a human chain program on the occasion of International Human Rights Day on Sunday (December 10). After that, in the 11th phase, the party again imposed a 36-hour blockade across the country.
