Fire in Uttara's 7-storey building leaves 3 dead

A fire broke out on the second floor of a seven-storey building in Sector 11 in the capital's Uttara, leaving three people dead.

The blaze started around 7:50am on Road 18 on Friday (January 16).

Firefighters from Uttara Fire Station arrived at the scene at 7:58am and worked to bring the fire under control. Two fire units battled the flames, containing it by 8:25am, with full extinguishment achieved by 10:00am.

Thirteen people were rescued and taken to Kuwait Maitree Hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Fire Service media officer Talha Bin Jasim confirmed the casualties and rescue operations.
