Fire service demands Tk 19cr for election duties
The Fire Service and Civil Defence Department has requested Tk 19 crore 9 lakh 38 thousand 120 to carry out its responsibilities during the upcoming 13th National Parliament election and referendum.
The department’s Director General, Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, recently sent a letter to the senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs requesting the allocation, with a copy sent to the Election Commission Secretary.
The letter states that Fire Service personnel will be fully deployed before, during, and after the elections to assist district and upazila administrations, law enforcement agencies, and ensure fire safety.
The requested funds cover six key areas: daily allowances, hospitality expenses, petrol and lubricants, miscellaneous items, administrative costs, and equipment rentals. The largest portion, Tk 7 crore 41 lakh, has been requested for petrol and lubricants.
The Election Commission usually pays the allowances and other expenses for personnel deployed from various agencies during elections. The commission will review the proposal and approve the budget after discussions.
