Fire service members receive training in Cox’s Bazar
Members of the US Army and Air Force conducted training for Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel at the parasailing point on Cox’s Bazar sea beach.
The training began on Sunday morning (May 18) and concluded on Wednesday afternoon (May 21), with 15 officers and firefighters from the Cox’s Bazar Fire Service taking part.
The training focused on rescue operations during disasters, especially floods, tidal surges, and cyclones. Participants learned how to rescue people stranded in such situations, bring back those swept away by water, and conduct rescue operations in coastal areas.
Md Tanharul Islam, Deputy Assistant Director of Cox’s Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defence, said, “With the support of the American Embassy, members of the US Army and Air Force provided this training to our fire service personnel. Today, the trainers handed over certificates to the trainees. The training covered various rescue techniques, including rescuing people trapped in floods and cyclones or swept away by water.”
Several photos from the training circulated on social media, prompting some negative reactions from users. Addressing the issue, Tanharul Islam said, “It is nothing serous. We only participated in a training session. The training has concluded, and the team is departing from Cox’s Bazar today.”
