Fire service rescue housewife from 60-foot high bamboo bush

A woman was screaming for help after climbing a 50-60 feet high bamboo bush at Haluaghat upazila in Mymensingh. Local residents and relatives failed to bring her down despite many attempts.

Later, the locals called the national emergency service number 999 and informed the fire service about the incident.

The incident took place last Friday at Muzakanda village under Bildora union of the upazila.

Locals said the woman is the daughter-in-law of Md Innos Ali of Muzakanda village. She has been suffering from mental imbalance lately.

According to fire service and local sources, the housewife suddenly disappeared from her house on Friday morning. When her husband and relatives searched for her, they found the woman on top of a huge bamboo bush next to her house. Despite many attempts, the relatives and locals could not get her down from the bamboo bush. Later, the fire service was informed.

Haluaghat Fire Service Senior Firefighter Md Harun Or Rashid said the woman was sitting on a bamboo pole 50 to 60 feet high. At that time, the bamboo pole was swinging in the wind. As a result, she could have fallen at any time. Later, after about three hours of effort, the fire service personnel, with the help of locals, safely brought her down.

Haluaghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Khair said after receiving a call on 999, the fire service rescued the woman safely and handed her over to her family.
