The government has suspended the license of firearms issued to civilians. A government notification, signed by Md. Zahirul Haque, Senior Assistant Secretary, Public Security Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, said that the firearms licenses issued to civilians between January 6, 2009 and August 5, 2024 have been suspended. License holders have been instructed to submit their firearms and ammunition to the relevant police station by September 3. The notification also stated that the District Magistrate will take necessary actions in accordance with the Arms Act, 1878 (Act XI of 1878) and the Firearms License Issuance, Renewal, and Use Policy-2016 issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

বেসামরিক জনগণকে দেওয়া আগ্নেয়াস্ত্রের লাইসেন্স স্থগিত করেছে সরকার। একই সঙ্গে আগামী ৩ সেপ্টেম্বরের মধ্যে গোলাবারুদসহ আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র সংশ্লিষ্ট থানায় জমা দেওয়ার জন্য অনুরোধ করা হয়েছে। রবিবার (২৬ আগস্ট) স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের সিনিয়র তথ্য অফিসার ফয়সল হাসান স্বাক্ষরিত এক বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করা হয়েছে। বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বলা হয়, বিগত ২০০৯ সালের ৬ জানুয়ারি থেকে ২০২৪ সালের ৫ আগস্ট পর্যন্ত যে সমস্ত আগ্নেয়াস্ত্রের লাইসেন্স বেসামরিক জনগণকে দেওয়া হয়েছে, তাদের দেওয়া লাইসেন্স স্থগিত করা হলো। একই সঙ্গে আগামী ৩ সেপ্টেম্বর মধ্যে গোলাবারুদসহ আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র সংশ্লিষ্ট থানায় জমা দেওয়ার জন্য অনুরোধ করা হলো -স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়।
