Firms to get tax rebate for hiring disabled, transgender workers
The government has proposed tax incentives for companies employing persons with disabilities and transgender people in the 2026–27 budget.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said in parliament that firms employing at least 10 per cent of their workforce or a minimum of 25 such employees will qualify for the benefit.
Eligible companies will get a rebate of 5 per cent of payable tax or 75 per cent of salaries paid to such workers, whichever is lower.
The budget also raises the tax-free income threshold for parents or guardians of persons with disabilities by Tk 50,000 to Tk 4,25,000, while setting the tax-free limit at Tk 5,00,000 for disabled and transgender taxpayers.
The Tk 9,38,000 crore national budget aims to promote inclusive growth and social protection.
