First group of 29 Bangladeshis begins journey from Iran to Dhaka

A group of 29 Bangladeshi citizens residing in Iran has begun their journey back to Bangladesh. Assisted by the Bangladesh Embassy, they set off by bus from Iran to Pakistan.

The group departed from Tehran at 4.30pm (Bangladesh time) on Wednesday (25 June). Their road journey to Pakistan covers approximately 1,900 kilometers and is expected to take around 10 hours. Depending on the local conditions and flight schedule, they are likely to arrive in Dhaka within a day or two.

Gazi Abdur Rashid, a senior journalist with Radio Tehran’s Bangla service, confirmed the information.

According to reports, around 250 Bangladeshis have already registered at the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran to return home. They will be brought back in phases.

There are about 2,000 Bangladeshis living in Iran, including 400 in Tehran. Among the 672 officially listed Bangladeshis in Iran, 66 are students.
