The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is staging its national rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital, aiming to press a seven-point demand. The first phase of the event began at 9:40am on Saturday with a cultural programme. The cultural segment is being hosted by Saifullah Mansur, with performances by the Saimum Shilpigosthi. Earlier in the morning, Jamaat Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar took to the stage and said, “Alhamdulillah. Praise be to Allah. Our rally has already turned into a sea of people.” From the early hours, party leaders and activists started gathering at the venue. Even before the official commencement of the first phase, Suhrawardy Udyan was teeming with Jamaat supporters, with thousands more crowding outside the grounds.

সাত দফা দাবি আদায়ের লক্ষ্যে রাজধানীর সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যানে চলছে বাংলাদেশ জামায়াতে ইসলামীর জাতীয় সমাবেশ। শনিবার সকাল ৯টা ৪০ মিনিটে সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠানের মধ্যদিয়ে এই সমাবেশের প্রথম পর্ব শুরু হয়। সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান উপস্থাপনা করছেন সাইফুল্লাহ মানসুর। অনুষ্ঠান পরিচালনা করছেন সাইমুম শিল্পী গোষ্ঠী। এর আগে সকালে সমাবেশ মঞ্চে এসে জামায়াতের সেক্রেটারি জেনারেল মিয়া গোলাম পরওয়ার বলেন, আলহামদুলিল্লাহ। আল্লাহর শুকরিয়া। আমাদের সমাবেশ ইতোমধ্যে জনসমুদ্রে পরিণত হয়েছে। অনুকূল আবহাওয়ার জন্য আল্লাহর শুকরিয়া আদায় করেন তিনি। আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে রহমতের দোয়া করেন। এদিকে সমাবেশকে ঘিরে ভোর থেকেই সমাবেশস্থলে ঢল নামে দলীয় নেতাকর্মীদের। সমাবেশের প্রথম পর্ব শুরুর অনেক আগেই দলটির নেতাকর্মী ও সমর্থকদের উপস্থিতিতে কানায় কানায় পূর্ণ হয়ে যায় সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যান। এ ছাড়া সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যানের বাইরে অবস্থান করছেন হাজার হাজার জামায়াতের নেতাকর্মী। দেশের বিভিন্ন জেলা থেকে বাস, ট্রেন ও লঞ্চে করে আসা নেতাকর্মীরা রাজধানীতে পৌঁছে মিছিল সহকারে সমাবেশস্থলে প্রবেশ করছেন। নেতাকর্মীদের অনেকের হাতে তাদের দলীয় প্রতীক দাাঁড়িপাল্লা শোভা পাচ্ছে।
