Five ambassadors appointed during interim govt withdrawn
The Bangladesh government has withdrawn five ambassadors and high commissioners who were appointed on a contractual basis during the interim government.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed this information on Sunday, March 8.
The ministry stated that ambassadors appointed on a contractual basis to Portugal, Poland, Mexico and the Maldives during the interim government, and the high commissioner appointed to the United Kingdom, have been withdrawn.
The officials withdrawn are – M Mahfuzul Haque (Portugal), Md Moynul Islam (Poland), M Mushfiqul Fazal Ansari (Mexico), Md Nazmul Islam (Maldives), and Abida Islam (High Commissioner to the UK).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said these officials have been transferred to the headquarters in Dhaka. They have been instructed to join the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka urgently.
This move by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is seen as part of the new government's reassessment of foreign policy and diplomatic appointments.
