Five injured by lightning strike in Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar
Five people, including two children, were injured by a lightning strike in the Rohingya camp in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar.
The incident occurred at around 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 28, in the Balukhali 9 Rohingya camp in Ukhia.
The injured are Jannat Ara, 1; Rokeya Begum, 14; Nur Begum, 25; Minara Begum, 30; and Ismat Ara, 18, residents of the camp.
Camp sub-majhi Bashir Ahmed said the injured were rescued by family members and locals after the lightning strike and first taken to an NGO-run hospital inside the camp. As their condition deteriorated, they were transferred to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital later that night.
The camp in-charge's office said the treatment of the injured Rohingyas is being monitored.
Ukhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mujibur Rahman said detailed information about the five people injured by the lightning strike in the Rohingya camp has been collected.
