In Mirerhat, Sitakunda, Chattogram, five people, including a woman, were killed when a bus collided with the back of a stationary truck. At least 15 others were injured. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, November 16, on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at a place called Bottola in Mirerhat, according to Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Md. Alamgir of Sitakunda Model Police Station. He said, “Four people died on the spot, and another died on the way to hospital. The injured have been rescued and sent to Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex. Their condition is also critical.” Police and highway police are investigating the cause of the accident.

চট্টগ্রামের সীতাকুণ্ডের মীরেরহাটে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা ট্রাকের পেছনে বাসের ধাক্কায় নারীসহ পাঁচ জন নিহত হয়েছেন। এ ঘটনায় অন্তত আরও ১৫ জন আহত হয়েছেন। রোববার (১৬ নভেম্বর) ঢাকা-চট্টগ্রাম মহাসড়কের মিরেরহাট এলাকার বটতলায় এ ঘটনা ঘটে। ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করেন সীতাকুণ্ড মডেল থানার তদন্ত কর্মকর্তা মো. আলমগীর। তিনি বলেন, ‘চারজন ঘটনাস্থলেই মারা যান, আরেকজনকে হাসপাতালে নেওয়ার পথে মৃত্যু হয়। আহতদের উদ্ধার করে সীতাকুণ্ড উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে পাঠানো হয়েছে। তাঁদের অবস্থাও আশঙ্কাজনক।’ দুর্ঘটনার কারণ নির্ধারণে পুলিশ ও হাইওয়ে পুলিশ তদন্ত করছে।
