Five people have been killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a chicken-laden pickup van in Bhanga, Faridpur. The accident occurred on Saturday evening, July 11, on the Dhaka-Bhanga highway in the Soadi area of the upazila. Bhanga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Alim confirmed the incident. The identities of the deceased could not be immediately confirmed. Police said five people died on the spot when a passenger bus and the pickup van collided head-on from opposite directions. Police and rescue teams arrived at the scene and began recovery operations. The injured are being taken to hospitals. Police are working to identify the cause of the accident and the deceased.

ফরিদপুরের ভাঙ্গায় যাত্রীবাহী বাস ও মুরগিবোঝাই একটি পিকআপ ভ্যানের মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষে পাঁচজন নিহত হয়েছেন। শনিবার (১১ জুলাই) রাত পৌনে ৮টার দিকে উপজেলার সোয়াদী এলাকায় ঢাকা-ভাঙ্গা মহাসড়কে এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। ভাঙ্গা হাইওয়ে থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) আব্দুল আলিম দুর্ঘটনার বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তবে তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে নিহতদের পরিচয় জানা যায়নি। পুলিশ জানায়, মুরগিবোঝাই একটি পিকআপ ভ্যানের সঙ্গে বিপরীত দিক থেকে আসা একটি যাত্রীবাহী বাসের মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষ হলে ঘটনাস্থলেই পাঁচজন নিহত হন। খবর পেয়ে পুলিশ ও উদ্ধারকারী দল ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে উদ্ধার অভিযান শুরু করে। আহতদের উদ্ধার করে হাসপাতালে নেওয়া হচ্ছে। দুর্ঘটনার কারণ এবং নিহতদের পরিচয় শনাক্তে কাজ করছে পুলিশ।
