Five more children die from Measles, Measles-like-symptoms
Five more children have died from confirmed measles and measles-related complications over the past 24 hours, while 969 new infections were recorded nationwide, according to the latest update from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The updated measles situation report, released on Sunday afternoon (July 12), said four children died with measles symptoms, while one child succumbed to laboratory-confirmed measles during the reporting period.
With the latest fatalities, the death toll since March 15 has climbed to 758, including 664 deaths linked to measles symptoms and 94 confirmed measles deaths.
The DGHS also reported that 90 children tested positive for measles in the past 24 hours, while 879 others were identified with measles-like symptoms, bringing the total number of new cases to 969.
During the same period, 849 children were admitted to hospitals for treatment, while 843 patients were discharged after receiving medical care.
Health authorities said that between March 15 and July 12 (8:00am), the country has recorded 1,11,480 suspected measles cases, including 13,500 laboratory-confirmed infections. A total of 94,340 patients have been hospitalised during the outbreak, with 90,605 already discharged following treatment.
