Five more children die with measles symptoms, death toll tops 780
Five more children have died with measles symptoms in the country over the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,155 children were newly infected with measles or its symptoms.
The Directorate General of Health Services published the information in a health bulletin from its central office on Monday, August 10.
The bulletin said 992 patients were identified with measles symptoms in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of patients identified with measles symptoms in the country from March 15 to August 10 to 1,37,312.
During the same period, 163 patients were confirmed with measles. From March 15 to August 10, the total number of confirmed measles patients in the country has reached 17,278.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, a total of 1,19,322 patients were hospitalised with measles symptoms from March 15 to August 10. Of them, 1,16,139 have recovered and been discharged.
With five more deaths from measles symptoms in the last 24 hours, the total number of deaths from such symptoms since March 15 has risen to 780.
Meanwhile, no deaths from confirmed measles were reported in the last 24 hours. However, a total of 98 people have died from confirmed measles in the country from March 15 to August 10.
