Five more die from dengue
Five more people have died from dengue in the 24 hours between 8am on Saturday and 8am on Sunday. In the same period, 1,139 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
The information was confirmed in a press release issued on Sunday, November 16, by the Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.
According to the release, among the new admissions in the past day, 181 were in Barishal, 141 in Chattogram, 246 outside Dhaka city corporations, 182 in Dhaka North City, 118 in Dhaka South City, 119 in Khulna, 96 in Mymensingh, 46 in Rajshahi, 9 in Rangpur and 1 in Sylhet division.
During this time, 1,199 patients nationwide were discharged from hospitals after treatment. The total number of discharged patients this year has now reached 81,442.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, a total of 84,997 people have been admitted to hospital with dengue since the beginning of the year. The death toll currently stands at 336.
Notably, in 2024, 101,214 people were admitted to hospital and 575 died. In the previous year, 2023, dengue claimed 1,705 lives, with 321,179 recorded infections.
