Five more die of dengue, 1,034 hospitalised

Between 8am Wednesday and 8am Thursday, five people died of dengue across the country. During the same period, 1,034 patients were admitted to hospitals with dengue infection.

The information was revealed in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday, November 6.

According to the DGHS, among the deaths in the last 24 hours, three occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation area, one in Dhaka North City Corporation, and one in Mymensingh division.

The statement said 1,034 new dengue patients were admitted in the last 24 hours. Of them, 134 were in Barishal division, 103 in Chattogram, 188 in Dhaka division (outside city corporations), 200 in Dhaka North City, 171 in Dhaka South City, 55 in Khulna division (outside city corporations), 66 in Mymensingh division (outside city corporations), 79 in Rajshahi division (outside city corporations), 33 in Rangpur division (outside city corporations), and 5 in Sylhet division (outside city corporations).

Meanwhile, 901 dengue patients were released from hospitals across the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered patients this year to 72,388.

From January to date, a total of 76,026 patients have been hospitalised with dengue, and 308 people have died so far this year.

In comparison, from January to December 2024, a total of 101,214 patients were hospitalised with dengue, and 575 people died. In 2023, 1,705 people died from dengue, while 321,179 were hospitalised across the country.
