Five more die of dengue in one day, 792 hospitalised
Dengue cases in the country have deteriorated once again. In the past 24 hours, from Friday 8am to Saturday 8am, five more people have died from dengue. During the same period, 792 new patients were admitted to hospital.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the figures in a bulletin issued on Saturday, November 15.
According to the bulletin, of the new admissions in the past day, 125 were in Barishal Division, 136 in Chattogram, 107 outside the city corporations in Dhaka Division, 226 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 121 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 60 in Mymensingh Division (outside the city corporation), and 2 in Sylhet Division (outside the city corporation).
During the same period, 783 dengue patients across the country recovered and were discharged. With this, the total number of recoveries this year has reached 80,243.
DGHS data shows that from January until now, a total of 83,858 patients have been admitted to hospital with dengue, while 331 people have died.
Notably, in 2024, 101,214 people were hospitalised with dengue and 575 died. In 2023, the death toll was 1,705, with 321,179 hospital admissions.
