Five more tonnes of lentils have arrived from India through Akhaura
Five more tonnes of lentils have been imported from India through Brahmanbaria's Akhaura land port. The lentils entered Bangladesh in an Indian truck around 6:30 pm on Wednesday.
It is reported that these lentils will be unloaded from the port on Thursday. Lentils were imported at a price of 108 taka per kg. Five tonnes of lentils were imported last week.
Sources said that the pulses are being imported ahead of Ramadan. If there is a good price in the market and there is demand, pulses will be imported regularly. Apart from this, traders are also thinking of bringing other products.
Cumin was imported through this port earlier in the current fiscal year. Five tons of cumin arrived on January 6, which is the first import in the current fiscal year. Akhaura land port is mainly known as an export-oriented port.
Sources said that Dhaka-based importer Asia Trade International imported these pulses at $900 per ton. The C&F was M/s Adnan Trade International of Akhaura. The exporter was Mxtim Private Limited of Kolkata, India.
M/s Adnan Trade International's proprietor Md. Akhter Hossain said that pulses were imported from the local market of Tripura in two phases. There are plans to import more pulses and other daily necessities ahead of Ramadan.
