Five of same family, including child, killed by throats slit in Gazipur

Five members of a family, including the wife and child of an expatriate living in Qatar, were brutally killed at Kapasia upazila in Gazipur.

The victims were found with their throats slit inside a house in the Rautkona area early Saturday morning (May 9).

Police suspect the killings, what they described as a gruesome mass murde, took place sometime late Friday night.

According to local residents, the homeowner, Monir Hossain, is currently working in Qatar, while his wife and children were staying at the family residence. Neighbours said the family was seen in normal condition on Friday night before the horrifying discovery the following morning.

After spotting the bodies inside the house, locals informed police, who rushed to the scene and began an investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the deceased include the expatriate’s wife and child, though the identities of the other victims were not immediately disclosed.

Confirming the incident, Md Sharif Uddin said law enforcement officers have been deployed to the area and an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the killings and identify those responsible.
