Five of same family, including mother-children, killed by throats slit in Gazipur

Five members of a family, including a women and children were brutally killed at Kapasia upazila in Gazipur.

The victims were found with their throats slit inside a house in the Rautkona area early Saturday morning (May 9).

The deceased were identified as Sharmin, 35, wife of Forkan Mia of Gopalganj, his three daughters Mim, 15, Maria, 12, and Faria, 2, and brother-in-law Rasul Mia, 18.

Police suspect the killings, what they described as a gruesome mass murder, took place sometime late Friday night.

According to local residents, Forkan Mia and his family were renting the house of Monir Hossain, an expatriate worker in Qatar. The victim family was seen in normal condition on Friday night before the horrifying discovery the following morning.

After spotting the bodies inside the house, locals informed police, who rushed to the scene and began an investigation.

It is initially suspected that, Forkan Mia may have been involved in the murder.

Confirming the incident, Md Sharif Uddin said law enforcement officers have been deployed to the area and an investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the killings and identify those responsible.
