Five vehicles collide on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

One person was killed and at least 10 others injured in a five-vehicle collision on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway at Kuchiamora in Munshiganj on Friday night.

The accident took place around 8:30pm when a Sohag Paribahan bus, after hitting a pedestrian, attempted to flee and rammed into several vehicles.

The bus collided with two microbuses, a Hiace, and a private car, disrupting Dhaka-bound traffic for about 30 minutes.

Fire service personnel rescued the injured and sent them to hospitals, while police later cleared the highway for normal traffic.

Police said the Sohag Paribahan bus (Dhaka Metro Ba-14-6666) struck three microbuses and a private car stuck in traffic. The injured pedestrian was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he died later.

Separately, a motorcyclist named engineer Shamim Reza was killed in a collision with a private car near the Jasholdia Water Treatment Plant the same night.
