A five-year-old boy was allegedly hacked to death by his uncle and associates in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj, police and family members said.

The victim, Mahatab Hossain Hridoy, son of Faruk Hossain, was attacked in Marjan village of Gala union early in this morning (April 16) following a dispute over land use.

According to police and eyewitness accounts, the conflict began when Hamid Ali of the village attempted to dump soil beside a cowshed for toilet construction, which Faruk Hossain opposed. The disagreement quickly escalated into a confrontation involving multiple individuals.

At one stage, Hamid Ali and his associates allegedly attacked the family with sticks and sharp weapons. During the chaos, Faruk Hossain tried to flee while holding his son, but the child was struck with a sharp weapon and collapsed on the ground.

Locals rushed the injured child to hospital, but he died on the way, officials said.

Following the incident, the accused reportedly fled the area.

Shahjadpur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Nazmul Kader said police recovered the body and sent it to Sirajganj General Hospital for autopsy.
