The national flag was hoisted in front of the abandoned Awami League office in Lohagara Upazila of Narail and pictures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were pasted on the wall.

A video circulating on social media on Wednesday morning showed the national flag flying in front of the office in Jamrultala area of Joypur and pictures of the two leaders were pasted on the walls of the building at various places. Local sources said that the pictures were torn down after the video went viral and the flag was removed.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station Abdur Rahman said that the police are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, the national flag was also hoisted and similar pictures were hung at the abandoned Awami League office in Barguna district. It is learnt that local leaders and activists of the banned Chhatra League did this work at the office located on Sher-e-Bangla Road in the city on Wednesday morning. The video of this incident also spread on social media.

District Chhatra League leader Fahad Hasan said they went there as part of the reopening of the party office. However, District BNP Member Secretary Humayun Hasan said that the matter should be brought to the attention of the administration and demanded legal action.

Barguna Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Alim said that after learning about the incident, police were sent and legal action will be taken after identifying those involved.

After the mass uprising on August 5, 2024, various Awami League offices were vandalized and set on fire. Since then, these offices have been abandoned for a long time.
