Flats, shares of NASA Group chairman's wife seized

A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of two flats belonging to Nasrin Islam, the wife of NASA Group Chairman Nazrul Islam Majumder and a director of the company. In addition, her shares in 55 companies have been frozen.

The order was issued on Wednesday (June 18) by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib, following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the ACC, Nasrin Islam owns two flats worth Tk4 crore in the DOHS area of Mohakhali and has shares in 55 companies including NASA Group.

ACC Assistant Director Muhammad Shihab Salam submitted the petition to seize and freeze these assets. The petition stated that Nasrin Islam is accused of acquiring illegal wealth worth Tk20.26 crore through abuse of power and corruption. During the investigation, it was found that she was trying to sell or transfer the assets, which could harm the interest of the state. Therefore, immediate seizure was necessary.

ACC Assistant Director (Public Relations) Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the matter.
