FM announces inflation's reduction to 7.5 percent
The government has set a new target to reduce the long-standing high inflation pressure in the country. It has been announced to reduce inflation to 7.5 percent in the budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury presented the proposed budget in the National Parliament on Thursday (June 11).
In his budget presentation, he said that the cost of living of the people will be reduced by restoring stability in the economy, increasing investment and creating employment.
The total size of the country has been estimated in the new budget at 9 lakh 38 thousand crore taka. Against this, the revenue revenue target has been set at 6 lakh 95 thousand crore taka. As a result, the deficit has stood at 2 lakh 43 thousand crore taka, which is planned to be met through domestic and foreign loans.
The Finance Minister also said that the target has been set to increase the country's GDP growth to 6.5 percent in the next fiscal year.
According to analysts, if this inflation control target is implemented, it could bring relief to the market and increase the purchasing power of the common people. However, they caution that achieving this target will depend on the global economic situation and domestic market management.
