Foreign exchange reserves rise further to $37.47 billion
The country's foreign exchange reserves have continued their positive trend, rising further to $37.47 billion as of Monday (August 24), according to Bangladesh Bank.
The central bank's Executive Director and Spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan confirmed the latest figure.
According to the updated data, the country's reserves stood at $37,467.18 million (or $37.47 billion) in gross terms. Under the IMF's BPM-6 accounting method, the reserves now stand at $32,616.50 million ($32.62 billion).
Earlier, as of August 20, the gross reserves were $37,348.43 million and the BPM-6 reserve was $32,532.89 million — meaning the gross reserves increased by $118.75 million and the BPM-6 reserve rose by $83.61 million in just four days.
It may be mentioned that under IMF rules, net or actual reserves are calculated by deducting short-term foreign currency liabilities from gross reserves.
