Foreign Minister arrives in Maldives
Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman has arrived in the Maldives. Upon his arrival on Saturday (July 25), he was received by Maldivian Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam and senior officials of the foreign ministry.
Dr Khalilur Rahman is visiting the Maldives from July 25 to 27 as a special guest of the Maldivian government to attend the celebrations marking the 61st anniversary of the Maldives' independence. During the visit, the Foreign Minister will pay a courtesy call on Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu. He is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam.
Discussions are expected to focus on further strengthening the long-standing partnership between the Maldives and Bangladesh, reviewing various aspects of bilateral cooperation and exploring new opportunities for collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The two ministers will also exchange views on the regional and international situation and reaffirm their commitment to continued cooperation in regional and multilateral forums.
This is Dr Khalilur Rahman's first visit to the Maldives since assuming office as Foreign Minister.
It may be noted that the Foreign Minister travelled to the Maldives after the ASEAN Regional Forum conference in Manila.
