Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman to visit Delhi

Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman will travel to Delhi on a two-day visit starting April 7. This will be the first visit by a Bangladeshi minister to Delhi since the BNP-led government formed under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in February.

Confirming the visit, a diplomatic source in Dhaka said the foreign minister will attend the Indian Ocean Conference to be held in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius. He will travel to Mauritius via Delhi. Prime Minister's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir is expected to accompany the foreign minister.

According to diplomatic sources, a meeting between Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is likely on the first day of the Delhi visit. Additionally, the foreign minister is scheduled to meet several other key representatives of the Indian government. During the visit, meetings may also be held with India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, among other important figures.
