Foreign Ministry Additional Secretary Ferdousi Shahriar passes away

Ferdousi Shahriar (54), Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has passed away. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.

An officer of the 18th batch of the BCS Foreign Affairs cadre, Ferdousi Shahriar began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Assistant Secretary on January 25, 1999. Over his long career, he served in important positions at various Bangladeshi diplomatic missions in Bangkok (Thailand), Rome (Italy), Manchester (United Kingdom) and Washington D.C. (USA). He also served as Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Singapore.

He is survived by his wife, three children and numerous colleagues and well-wishers.

The Foreign Minister, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister's Adviser for Foreign Affairs and the Foreign Secretary have expressed deep grief over the death of Ferdousi Shahriar. In a message, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
