The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured foreign diplomats in Dhaka about their safety and the overall law-and-order situation in the capital ahead of the upcoming elections.

On Thursday afternoon (December 18), Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam briefed around 40 diplomats from various embassies on security measures. He informed them that the Election Commission has invited international observers to monitor the polls, and their presence will be welcomed.

Siam emphasised that the armed forces and law enforcement agencies remain vigilant and fully committed to maintaining public order, adding, "The diplomats were also reassured about the security of their respective embassies."

Diplomatic sources noted that the briefing was prompted by concerns among foreign missions over law-and-order following the announcement of the election schedule.
