Formal complaint lodged with ICT on Ashulia killings
A formal complaint has been filed with the International Crimes Tribunal in connection with the case of killing and burning six bodies in Ashulia, Savar during the July-August uprising.
A hearing will be held on it at International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 on Wednesday (July 2).
Earlier this morning, seven accused, including arrested police officers Abdullah Hill Kafi and Shahidul Islam, were presented at the tribunal.
On August 5 last year, five people lost their lives in police firing in police firing in Jamgarh, Ashulia. Additionally, one person was seriously injured. Later, the bodies of the five people and the injured one were put in a police van, burnt with petrol.
After the investigation of this incident, the prosecution received the investigation report of the case on June 19. A total of 16 people, including former MP Saiful Islam, have been charged in the formal complaint.
The prosecution said a case was filed with the International Crimes Tribunal on September 11, alleging crimes against humanity in this incident.
