Police have recovered the body of former additional secretary Md. Mosharraf Hossain from an under-construction building of the Officers’ Club in Ramna, Dhaka.

His bloodied body was found around 11:45 am on Friday (October 16), beside the stairs on the ground floor of the building.

According to Officers’ Club sources, Mosharraf Hossain entered the club around 10 am on Friday with his younger daughter. He then left her at the swimming pool next to the under-construction building and went inside the building. About an hour later, his body was seen lying beside the stairs on the ground floor.

Mosharraf Hossain was a member of the Officers’ Club. He lived with his family in a house in Banani, Dhaka.

Sheikh Zahidul Islam, deputy commissioner (DC) of the Ramna Division of police, said Mosharraf Hossain had gone to the club’s swimming pool with his daughter in the morning. He had poor eyesight. It is believed that he died after falling from the third floor of the building into the open space on the ground floor. An inquest report of the body has been completed at the scene.

DC Sheikh Zahidul Islam also said the family has expressed a wish not to have a post-mortem examination. For this reason, the body will be handed over to the family after completing the necessary procedures.

Family sources said Mosharraf Hossain’s elder daughter lives in the United States. His burial will take place after she returns to Bangladesh.
