Former Appellate Division justice Anwar-ul Haque passes away
Anwar-ul Haque, former Justice of Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC), passes away at 2:55 am on Sunday while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital.
Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan expressed profound sorrow at the passing of Justice Anwar ul Haque. In his condolence message, he humbly sought forgiveness for the departed soul and extended his deepest condolences to the grieving family.
Muhammad Saifur Rahman, registrar of the Appellate Division, confirmed that the namaz-e janaza for Justice Anwar-ul Haque will be conducted at the inner garden of the Supreme Court following the zuhr prayer on Sunday (May 26).
Muhammad Anwar ul Haque, born on April 9, 1947, obtained his LLB and LLM degrees from the Law Department of Dhaka University. He commenced his career as a Munsef (Assistant Judge) on April 15, 1972, and subsequently rose to the position of District and Sessions Judge through promotions.
On 3 July 2001, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court. Then he took oath as a permanent judge on July 3, 2003. On March 31, 2013, he was sworn in as a judge of the Appellate Division. After his retirement, he was appointed as the Chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts Land Dispute Settlement Commission.
