Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A. K. M. Nurul Huda has been detained by police in the capital. According to sources, local residents detained Huda in the Uttara area of Dhaka on Sunday evening and handed him over to law enforcement authorities. Md. Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Uttara West Police Station, confirmed the arrest. “There is an existing case against former CEC A. K. M. Nurul Huda. He has been taken into custody, and legal proceedings are currently underway,” he stated. Further details regarding the charges or the nature of the case have not yet been disclosed by the authorities.

সাবেক প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনার (সিইসি) এ কে এম নুরুল হুদাকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ। রোববার (২২ জুন) সন্ধ্যার দিকে রাজধানীর উত্তরায় স্থানীয় জনগণ তাকে আটক করে পুলিশের হাতে সোপর্দ করে। উত্তরা-পশ্চিম থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. হাফিজুর রহমান বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি বলেন, সাবেক সিইসি এ কে এম নুরুল হুদার বিরুদ্ধে মামলা রয়েছে। তাকে গ্রেপ্তার করা হয়েছে। এ বিষয়ে পরবর্তী আইনগত ব্যবস্থা প্রক্রিয়াধীন।
