Former DB Chief Harun among 18 police officers suspended
The government has suspended 18 police officers, including former Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB) chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid, over allegations of misconduct.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued an official notification on Monday through its Public Security Division, confirming the suspensions. The order, signed by Deputy Secretary Nasimul Gani on behalf of the President, stated that the action was taken under Rule 12(1) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.
The suspended officials include; 3 Deputy Inspectors General (DIG), 6 Additional DIGs, 4 Superintendents of Police (SP), 4 Additional SPs, and 1 Assistant SP.
According to the notification, all 18 officers have been accused of committing a punishable offense by absconding, as defined under Rule 3(c) of the same disciplinary regulations.
During the period of suspension, the officers will be entitled to subsistence allowances. The government stated that the suspensions were made in the public interest.
