Dulal Kanti Bhowmik, a former professor of the Department of Sanskrit at the University of Dhaka, has gone missing in Dhaka's Mohammadpur after leaving his home saying he was going to buy medicine.

His wife, physician Kalpana Halder, has filed a general diary (GD) with Mohammadpur Police Station seeking his whereabouts.

He left his residence in the Chandrima Housing area of Mohammadpur around noon on Thursday (October 15), saying he was going out to buy medicine. When he had not returned by 10 pm that night, family members began searching for him, but could not find him despite looking in various places.

According to the family, Dulal Kanti Bhowmik is a well-known resident of the area. Since he knew the surrounding roads and places well, they think it is unlikely he lost his way. They also said that, to their knowledge, he had no enmity with anyone.

With no word of him for a long time, anxiety has spread among family members and relatives. They have sought help from law enforcement agencies to find out where he is.

Abdul Halim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohammadpur Police Station, said police are investigating the disappearance of the former university teacher. Several teams are working to trace him, and CCTV footage from various locations is being collected.

The OC added that Dulal Kanti Bhowmik did not have a mobile phone with him when he went missing. As a result, police are speaking with family members and relatives to gather information about his movements and whereabouts.
