Former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra shown arrested in graft case
Following the Anti-Corruption Commission's application, the court has approved the application to show former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder arrested in a corruption case.
On Wednesday (January 29), he was brought to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib.
The court then ordered him to be shown arrested in the case and sent to jail.
Earlier, the ACC applied to show Sadhan Chandra arrested in the same court last Thursday (January 23). Later, the court fixed January 29 as the date for the hearing on the issue of showing him arrested in his presence.
The application was filed by the commission's Assistant Director Afnan Jannat Keya.
The application states that if Sadhan Chandra Majumder is released on bail in the case filed by the ACC, there is a possibility of transferring the assets he possesses and the money in his bank account elsewhere.
Besides, if he is released on bail, he could obstruct the investigation. For the sake of a fair investigation of the case, it is particularly necessary to show him arrested in this case as well.
