Former IGP Azizul Haque passes away
Former Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) and former adviser to the caretaker government M. Azizul Haque has passed away.
He breathed his last at his residence in Uttara in the capital at around 3:30 am on Wednesday (January 15).
M. Azizul Haque was born on December 13, 1940, in a respectable Muslim family in Bhedarganj upazila of Shariatpur. He served as the Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IG) from July 1996 to November 1997.
Apart from this, Azizul Haque was the Vice President of Islami Bank and the Financial Adviser of Rupali Insurance Limited.
Apart from this, in 2007, he was in charge of the Local Government, Shipping and Aviation Ministry in the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed formed by Barrister Mainul Hossain.
Azizul Haque, 85, is survived by his wife, three sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His death has left an atmosphere of mourning in his family and his village.
Incidentally, Hasib Aziz, one of M Azizul Haque's sons, is the current Commissioner of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).
