Former IGP Mamun granted 3-day remand again

The court has once again granted a 3-day remand for former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun in a murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman issued the remand order after the case hearing, following the presentation of Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun in court from jail on Monday (November 25).

To ensure a fair investigation, DB Police Inspector Md. Mahmudur Rahman requested a 10-day remand for the accused, while the defense sought bail to cancel it. However, the state opposed the bail.

Earlier, The former IGP was arrested on September 3. After 18 days of remand in several cases, he was granted another 43-day remand in connection with 7 cases.

According to the case, a man, named Fazlul Karim, was shot during an anti-discrimination protest at Jasim Uddin intersection, Dhaka, on August 5, and died later that evening at Bangladesh Kuwait Friendship Hospital. On August 21, his brother, Anwar Hossain Aynal, filed a murder case against 39 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Chowdhury Mamun is named as an accused number 6 in the case.
