Former Krishak League leader arrested in two cases
Police have arrested and sent to jail the former general secretary of Faridpur's Saltha upazila Krishak League (activities prohibited), Amin Khandaker. He was arrested from the Montarmor area under Sonapur union of the upazila on Wednesday, August 26.
Amin Khandaker (45) is the son of Khandaker Hachan Ali of Chandakhole village in the same union.
Police sources said Amin Khandaker was an accused in an explosive case filed with Saltha Police Station on August 21, 2025. Additionally, he has been made the prime accused in a case filed over Tuesday's clash in Borobangrail village of the upazila.
Police said Amin Khandaker was a close associate of former Awami League MP Shahdab Akbar Chowdhury, also known as Labu Chowdhury, whose party activities have been prohibited. He went into hiding after the July uprising.
To avoid arrest, Amin Khandaker announced his resignation from Krishak League on January 19 this year through a Facebook post. Later, ahead of the 13th parliamentary elections, he joined BNP at a meeting in Sonapur union of the upazila by presenting a bouquet to BNP candidate Shama Obaid Islam, who is currently serving as State Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Saltha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Bablur Rahman Khan said Amin Khandaker was arrested in the 2025 explosive case and the case filed over Tuesday's clash. He was later sent to jail through court.
