Former KUET VC applies for voluntary retirement, 9 officials suspended

Former Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Professor Dr Mihir Ranjan Halder has applied for voluntary resignation.

Meanwhile, nine people, including the former Pro-VC and two deputy registrars, have been temporarily suspended on charges of various irregularities including recruitment without following due process.

The KUET authorities informed everyone about the matter through a letter on Wednesday (November 27).

KUET sources said they have been temporarily suspended due to various irregularities, including appointment to senior positions despite having no experience or with fake certificates.

The suspended officials are KUET's former Pro-VC Professor Dr Sobhan Mia, CSE Department Professor Dr Pintu Chandra Shil, Deputy Registrar Nimai Chandra Mistry Dolan, Deputy Registrar Debasish Mondal, Assistant Director of Public Relations department Manoj Kumar Majumder, Assistant Comptroller GM Abu Said, Assistant Programmer Omar Faruk, Assistant Technical Officer Mehedi Hasan Rajan and office secretary Satyajit Kumar Dutta.
