Police have detained former Kushtia-1 Member of Parliament A.K.M. Sarwar Jahan Badsha from Mohammadpur in Dhaka. The arrest took place on Tuesday, June 17, around 1 PM during a raid in the Bosila City Developer area of Mohammadpur. The operation was led by Hafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Mohammadpur Police Station. “Based on confidential information, we conducted the raid and arrested the fugitive former MP. Following legal procedures, he will be produced before the court,” said Hafizur Rahman. Meanwhile, in several areas of Dhaka-13 constituency, members of banned organizations affiliated with the Awami League held brief processions. Police have identified several leaders involved and are conducting operations to apprehend them.

কুষ্টিয়া-১ আসনের সাবেক সংসদ সদস্য (এমপি) আ.ক. ম সরওয়ার জাহান বাদশাকে ঢাকার মোহাম্মদপুর এলাকা থেকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ। মঙ্গলবার (১৭ জুন) দুপুর ১টার দিকে মোহাম্মদপুরের বসিলা সিটি ডেভেলপার এলাকায় অভিযান চালিয়ে তাকে আটক করা হয়। এ অভিযানে নেতৃত্বদানকারী মোহাম্মদপুর থানার তদন্ত কর্মকর্তা হাফিজুর রহমান বলেন, ‘গোপন সংবাদের ভিত্তিতে আমরা ওই এলাকায় অভিযান চালিয়ে পলাতক সাবেক এমপিকে গ্রেপ্তার করি। পরবর্তী আইনানুগ প্রক্রিয়া অনুসরণ করে তাকে আদালতে হাজির করা হবে।’ এদিকে রাজধানীর ঢাকা-১৩ আসনের বিভিন্ন এলাকায় আওয়ামী লীগের সহযোগী নিষিদ্ধ সংগঠনের কিছু সদস্য মিছিল করেছে। পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, এতে জড়িত কয়েকজন নেতাকে শনাক্ত করা হয়েছে এবং তাদের ধরতে অভিযান চলছে।
